Newham Heritage Month at Ranelagh
Children at Ranelagh are celebrating Newham Heritage Month in June 2022 through a special project linked to the Olympic Legacy of 2012. The theme this year is “What London 2012 means to us”.
10 Year 5 children are currently archive investigators learning about the Olympics, visiting archives at UEL & the Museum of London. Children will look back at the Olympic & Paralympic Games of 2012 to create their own opening ceremony in June 2022 at the school.
The year 5 archivists will create a range of artwork with local artist, Salvatore Rubbino, through workshops at the school. Salvatore visited Ranelagh to present some of his work & talk to children about his life as an author, illustrator & artist. Children were fascinated by his work & enjoyed listening to stories linked to the illustrations of one of his books ‘A walk in London’.
